I might need a new regulator/rectifier for my bike (900SS). I know the Electrex RR51 is a popular replacement but I was wondering if anyone had tried one of these instead? Ducati 748 750 851 900 906 916 Regulator Rectifier | eBay If so, how did/does it compare with the Electrex unit?
I have just looked at the picture and I can't tell if the wiring is based on OEM or Electrex RR51..........It gives the impression it might have a better airflow (turned 90 degrees to the other two).......but who knows? Personally now that I have seen how the OEM and Electrex ones wire up and what the RR51 does with my voltage monitor, I would stick with the RR51..... ....but where the Electrex wiring diagram suggests a new wire from the battery '+', just connect to the existing wire with the big 30A fuse. It is normally defunct when you have disconnected the OEM one... See http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f4/dead-battery-problem-5470/ AL
Thanks for that Al. I was tempted by the price, £66 as opposed to £90 for the Electrex unit. I`ll probably go with Electrex now if I do need a new one.
this might be of use to all single phase owners (we could do with organising a 'sticky' on here Matt) :- http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/enduralast 450 voltage regulation.pdf
