Good afternoon from Japan! First off my name is Chuck and I’m new to this community, so please be nice, haha! Anyways, I’m hoping someone with more knowledge on registering Ducatis sees this and can point me in the right direction. I’ll try to keep the post brief and to the point. I bought a brand new Ducati Supersport 950 in USA in early 2023. In mid 2024 I was transferred to Tokyo Japan for work. I imported the Ducati as it was free to do so. The issue I’m running into is I’m being told by a person who works on motorcycles and an insurance company that the Japanese LTO (the person who does the inspection and gives the thumbs up for registration) will only allow Ducatis with a “Certificate of Conformity of Technical Standards” (I’ve uploaded what the form looks like, I hope it works) wet signed by someone from Ducati HQ. Not Ducati America or Ducati Japan. I was also told another option is to see if my Ducati has an “E-level stamp” on the exhaust, which mine does not. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find an email or number to get in contact with someone from Ducati HQ. I sent an email explaining the situation to Ducati USA but I have not received a response back. My question is, has anyone on here imported a Ducati into Japan?( I know it’s a slim chance) If so how did you do it? For those who haven’t imported into Japan but can point me in the right direction, I’d be much appreciated! Also note: I have a letter of conformity from Ducati USA, however, I cannot use that in leu of the provided document. Second note: two of my coworkers ride on imported motorcycles from USA, but they are not Ducatis. I only say this because I’m sure a few people will think I’m silly for even bothering with importing. Thanks for the help!
