I picked up a 2014 1199s with 6000 miles full ducati service history beginning of may i have done 800 miles on it and in that time been rescued twice and got home in limp mode once and its booked to go back to ducati on saturday. So its had a new lambna and quickshifter and a map sensor but since the map sensor was fitted its turned into a terrible starter it takes ages to start it will probably be a new battery the way its going so my question is, are they really this bad or have i purchased a bad one. its got to a stage now were i don't trust it, its great when its going by the way.
Mines been spot on until Sunday when it sputtered and stopped, hoping it's nothing serious. Hope you get sorted...
I still think Ducatis need to be serviced regularly by someone who knows all their foibles. Not neccessarily a main dealer but certainly a specialist who loves what he does. If the service history is patchy or even a main dealer without a long history of Ducatis, it might be worth getting it to one and them giving it a good look over and service. 6000 miles in 6 years is only 1000 miles a year, Bikes need more miles than that to keep them working well IMHO.
I agree with this in a way bikes should be used regular and definitely looked at by someone who knows Ducatis i have had it to two Ducati dealers and going back to the second one on saturday but i have just been given a third independent who has great write ups so i will see what saturday brings, I've just noticed by the service records this bike has done literally 0 miles in the last two years prior too me buying it. I haven't given up on it yet.
