Renthal chains

  1. Think this is the most suitable department. Has anyone here had any experience of, currently uses a Renthal chain?

    Any advice/opinions would be useful.

  2. I use them and fit them to customer bikes as a OE replacement option. They are pretty good and very good value. The most common I use are the SRS gold. For a heavy duty option, mainly MTS etc. I use Tsubaki Sigma.

  3. I've got a tsubaki chain on at the moment but it might be ready for a change so thought about giving the Renthal a go just as its a tiny bit cheaper lol.

  4. you won't have a problem with either choice. It comes down to colour really....the Renthal is a better quality gold finish than Tsubaki. If you wanta gold chain go Renthal, for a plain steel finish go Tsubaki.

  5. My tsubaki is gold(ish) but golder would be nice. Think I might go for an R4 SRS.

  6. The gold finish on the Tsubaki is pretty poor tbh. More a paint..... The R4 SRS is a good chain and the gold finish much more durable.

  7. Winner, I think I'll give it a go. Also could you recommend a sensibly priced chain tool that will do splitting and riveting?

  8. B&C do some decent tools. "sensible" is a big word...... a cheap one will destroy itself after a few uses. My kit was about 300 quid and has been used professionaly for 10 years and has never failed me.. Both those chains are a hard rivet link, not the soft link as per say DID use. you need a decent tool...
B&C are the distributors of both chains. Have a word with them and see what they have/recommend.

  9. Sound one, will do. Potterhanworth isn't too far away either (where they're based) so I could pop over I guess.
