Replacement Helmet And Boots .

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by chase, Nov 11, 2014.

  1. Hi All ,
Due to an "off" I have to replace a lot of my riding gear , any advice /recommendations would be appreciated .
Helmet - I had a Schuberth S2 (I must admit I liked the internal tinted visor )prior to that I had a Shoei , any views on a replacement ?

Boots - I had a pair of Alpine stars SMX Plus - any views on replacements ? I must admit I found these tight around my calf and with no vents hot in summer .
    Thanks in advance
    Chase .

  2. For a helmet, I dont think you can really ask "what do you recommend" purely because what one person finds comfortable, thinks fits well may not fit you - helmets are a must try on item. I know having bought the lid I wanted, only to be ditching it after about three months because the fit was poor, which is why I spent about an 2 hours with in a decent shop trying on everything on offer to get the right fit for the replacement (a Shoei by the way)

What might help though is a discount code for GetGeared - Gear for Bikers! if they have anything that floats your boat, which was posted on another forum I use.... GG20BRIT Gives you 20% off all full priced items until 30/11/14

  3. Hi Super , thanks for that , I previously had a Shoei which was comfortable , I then got the Schuberth which took ages to "bed in " , but I was impressed with the quality and the flip down sunvisor has now become a must have since using it .

  4. I was going to recommend the boots you already had (assuming they were the Goretex version).
    Sorry.

  5. I had a Schubert and the visor is handy I also found mine very quiet and a lovely snug fit I was gutted when it dropped off my bike when I left it on the seat
I bought my arai chaser to replace it and that has been my favourite lid out of the 4 I have had

  6. HJC lids for me as those fit my like a glove each time.

  7. Liking the look of the Chaser v , what's the sun visor like ?

  8. I don't recall a sun visor in mine

  9. For a helmet I would recommend the Nolan N104. Its a flip with an internal sun visor and an option to use the N-Com bluetooth system which works really well. Re boots, I have the SMX Alpine stars and find them a bit tight round the calfs. My previous boots, Sidi Goretex felt more generous.

  11. I just bought the RPHA 10 Plus. Carbon with cool looking hexagonal weave. Was a bargain, fits great, weighs only 1300g and is great quality. check them out.

  12. As helmets I love them. Use one every day on my commute. Had 2 tumbles in this one but no major head butting and it shows no scratch. Put it in to a to small locker 5 times a week. It looks used, it looks tired but still performs after 2y.

It is however it's last winter, new HJC of sorts for summer. Will start looking around January as still mid-winter but sale of last year stock will be full on and I do not care about that new paint job......

  13. Those Schuberth helmets always remind me of the bit on Ferris Bueller when Ed Rooney flips his glasses up....

  14. Ive got an Arai rebel in matt black with black visor. Its comfy and really quiet. It was a bit expensive but well worth it in my opinion. It suits the upright look of nakeds. The chin spoiler thingy doesnt really doesnt do a lot tho......Just search on ebay for DUCATI ARAI REBEL 2014

  15. The S 2 isn't a flip up front . Interestingly if you look at the tests they do on their shells it's very impressive .

  16. Yeah....missing the point.....Rooney lifts his shades up....so does the internal visor\shades on the lid.....wasted..

  17. I just bought an Schuberth S3 Pro at the show for £399. I wore it today for the first time. Did a 100 miles on my Speed Triple and wow! it is so much quieter than my Arai Quantum (which is why I bought it). Not sure what it will be like in a more crouched position like mon my 998 but as a sit up helmet I am very pleased
