My bike just failed MOT on front tyre, I have a nearly new Michelin Pilot which I'm thinking of getting fitted as a replacement, but it's more than 5 years old apparently (even though it looks fine). The current tyre is Avon Storm, the rear is Avon Storm also, probably half way through it's life. Any recommendations? Sorry for the posting I haven't got time to trawl through old threads at the mo
Ok, well I'm gonna try the Michelin to begin. I'm going to remove the wheel myself and clean up the inside of the discs etc at the same time, so it's an excuse to tinker. First task will be getting hold of the correct tool to remove the front axle, looks like a massive hex key socket is required. I'll swap over to a new Avon tyre in due course.
The hex key is avalible on the bay, the tyres on my 750 are date stamped 2002, not sure when they were fitted mind, still going strong but will need changing before the next MOT, and the front wheel needs straightening too, so dose the one on my 400!
Didn't have time for ebay so ended up paying £9 for a Kennedy tools socket to remove the axle. Michelin tyre installed and I spent a couple of hours cleaning up the discs, years of residue etc. What a task.
