Is it necessary to have to remove the headlight fairing to replace the lower lamp ( low beam). I have removed the cover plate to have a look at what's involved, never replaced a lamp before on a 749, it looks like it might be removable without resorting to headlamp fairing removal, but I thought I would ask here first, as it's such a pain having to take it all off just to change a lamp. Also any recommendations for new lamp? I rarely seem to ride in the dark, but whilst I'm replacing the lamp I would consider an alternative . All advice appreciated.
Well I can answer my own question now I have removed the lamp without any fairing removal. It was so straightforward that I wonder why it said in the workshop manual that it was necessary to remove the fairing. Anyone know if this lamp is o.k for replacement: AUTOMOTIVE HEADLIGHT BULB HALOGEN HB3 12V 60 WATT 9005 It looks o.k, and is probably cheaper than the Ducati part!
