Replacing Non-heated Carbs With Heated Carbs Mikuni

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Mar 17, 2023.

  1. I'm swapping carbs on another 900ss which I'm putting back together

    The originals are non-heated (bottom)

The replacement ones appear to have the ports for the heated setup (unless I am mistaken). Can you run these in non-heated mode, i.e. with the correct plugs/bungs to close off? Is there a specific part for this purpose?

  2. If I'm not mistaken, the thread is suitable for banjo bolts (1mm thread pitch I think) which connect the lines for the heated oil to pass through. These float bowls are sealed inside and essentially the warm oil passes through one bowl through a short joining hose to the tother before returning back to the main oil run.
Just put in a rubber bung or similar, to stop road crap being chucked up into the holes if you aren't going to use them as heated.

I've never seen a specific part, would try to make something us with banjo bolts

  3. The easy and tidy way to do it is to swap the float bowls over.
