My rear brake light switch is fubared, the little accuator has snapped off, so the brake light is constantly on. The connector into the loom is above the swingarm, and under the shroud that covers the engine side of the swing arm. Does anyone know how you get this shroud off ? Or is there a workshop manual for a Diavel anywhere? Thanks
Sorry, can't help with this but perhaps another Diavel owner can? What year is it? A photo of the offending shroud may also help. Nice handle you have there by the way @hedgehog of death!
Sorry all, a little bit late in coming back on this. Progress so far - took the shroud off ABOVE the swing arm - easy to do. Removing the exhaust helps. New switch sent care of Pro Twins - and instructions over the phone on how to fit. Gear myself up - walk around the bike a few times, then have a good look. The socket that you have to un-plug in basically inaccessible - well it is if you have 2XL hands. If you have small hands you can go in via the frame. Not me - you have to have the ability to fold you wrist back at about 110 degrees , hold some pliers to snip the cable ties, then reach up for the inaccessible cable tie. Then the theory is that you reach even further up, press the cable joint and it unclips. Gave up after 3 hours - and booked it in to be done while I wait :-(
Did mine a couple months back as it failed mot being stuck on. What a pig of a job like you say you need hands of a 5 year old girl to get to the connector I just about managed it with some long intricate pliers. In fact at first I just pulled the wires out of the connector then managed to get the connector disconnected. At one point I was very close to just cutting the wire and adding in a new connector near to the switch which would make life so much easier if they had done this in the first place. Why they designed it to be right over the other side of the bike tucked into a tiny crevice I cannot understand, it’s almost like you need to take the swingarm off to access it! In the end I just about managed but I left the old cable in situ just snipped at each end.
