Requirements for extended demo bike test ride

  1. Hi guys,

Does anyone know what the requirements for an extended demo bike are? And if anyone does it?

I want to demo a multi for at least a weekend. I've taken the Multi 1200S for a test ride a few times, but only on short 30 min stints in and around Winchester. One of those tests I got lost around the bloody awful one way system. This length of time just isn't enough for me to safely say I want to put £15,550 down on a bike that I found a bit fun after 30 minutes.

Just wondered if anyone has done something similar.

    Thanks

  2. just don't take it back..

  3. Your logic is flawless...

  4. I always take bikes for 2 hours or so; as long as you ask they generally just extend the insurance cover. However the dealer I went too charges £10 per test ride but then your excess is only £200 not £1000+ depending on age, so it's worth £10 to know if it's the bike you want.

  5. bit cheeky considering Ducati gives the dealer 25 quid for every demo they book - or they used to. I remember when the 999 came out P&H were charging 25 quid for the ride, returnable if you bought it, and getting 25 from ducati to boot.

  6. Hmm, blade ducati round the corner from me want several grand deposit because some dick teenager binned a 848 on a test ride.

  7. I should nip to Snells in Alton. Good guys over there.

Or indeed Moto Rapido in Winchester

  8. Moto Rapido were the chaps I test rode with before. In Winchester. Good lot down there. Never test rode in snells. But they did the suspension setup on my 748. They worked wonders.

  9. Go and see Dave or Roy at Snells. They'll sort you out.

Might even let you test ride a Multi

  10. Oi oi, oooo err

  11. On the phone to Snells now, test booked in on Saturday 9th :)

This will be the deciding factor on my purchase. 2013 1200S new or second hand 1200S with lot's of flashy bits and new lid/kit... Or if I want the bike at all!

  12. yep Snells, I had there 848 evo corse se for most of the day back in the summer, it was while my mutli was in for service, and didn't mind at all being charged £25 to whizz about for most the day, if you pre book then you will have more chance that no-one else wants to ride the demp, good guys down at Snells, a couple of them are on the forum,

  13. you will most likely prefer the 2013, as its twin spark per cylinder and a lot smoother at low speeds, my 2012 s tourin is a bit Jerky low down, but there are cures

  14. That is the exact reason I need to decide why the new one is worth the extra few grand when it can be spent on fuel mapping at CJS, new exhaust system and a new lid with some new boots as well. Maybe even new textiles!

  15. I find picking your times helps - on a weekday it's much easier to get a bike for an entire day because there's far less demand.
