Hi All, This is not a begging post BUT there are details below of how you can donate if you wish. First some background: Paul Hunt is a Fireman, Ex TT Racer (I'm taking top 6 and 129mph laps) and was until this years TT a Traveling Marshal. I have known Paul for many years, I've scraped him up when he was racing, he has scraped me up when I was racing, I've made use of him to put a fire out in my kitchen and he is an all round nice guy. One of the practise session this year was cancelled and Paul was making his way over the mountain in less than ideal conditions back to base. From what we understand he lost the front somewhere around the 33rd Milestone and disappeared down the mountain. The result currently is that Paul is in the spinal until of Southport Hospital where he has been since June. Whilst he says he can feel his toes he has no use of his legs and I don't think his arms are much better. No one can say what the future holds in terms of recovery, but Paul being Paul he remains upbeat. His son races to quite good effect is the British Superstock Championship (Gavin Hunt). So to the main part of the story: A little girl in the Isle of Man called Cici Reed saw a pic of Paul and asked why he looked sad. Her mum told her about the accident and she wanted to raise some money to buy Paul some chocolate to cheer him up...because at 7 years old that fixes everything right? So she started making Big H (Paul is known as Big H in the IOM) Buddies. You know the furry things with beady eyes and a sticky back? She gave up a lot of her own time to make these and was up the Grandstand over MGP selling them for a min donation of £1.00. To date she has raised over £2000.00 for Paul. She has been invited to the IOM Fire HQ to meet the lads and has been nominated on the IOM for a Heart of Gold Award. Apart from Paul being a good mate, I can't fail to be impressed by this little girls enthusiasm to try to 'Make Paul Smile' Although I don't think all the Money will be going on Chocolate, it will all be going to Paul to aid in his recovery. Had Paul been racing I would have said 'Them's the risks' the same as it was when I was racing but he was providing a most valuable service. So if anyone would like to make a donation and have a buddy sent to them please do so. If you PM me your address I will pass them onto CiCi and she will get them out to you. If you are going to make a donation (as I said, just £1.00 would help) please use the details below and put a reference of Ducati and your Forum Name. Here is a link to her page: Facebook Bank Details IF you wish to make a donation are: Mrs A Reed Sort Code 55-91-07 Account Number 14084872 Paypal is [email protected] Please DO NOT feel obliged to donate, this post was not about begging. It was more to highlight the work this young lady has done to try to cheer up a badly injured fellow biker. If there were more people in the world like her it would be a better place. Thanks for reading. Fitz.
Yep sorry, remiss of me not to add it. Details are in the main post now. Thanks for reading. As I said, if you want a buddy sending you can PM me your address and I will send it to Alison if you want, else contact her with your details and Cici will get right on it. I hope some of you by now know what kind of person I am and know this is NOT a scam either. She has had a lot of press on racing forums and in the IOM press.
Superb mate..and what about that just giving thingy website? I know very little but if it's set up as a charity doesn't the govt drop 20% or something. A lovely tale in what is a sad situation.
Don't think it is set up as a charity mate, pretty sure it is not. Bit late for me to ask now but could find out tomorrow. To be honest I am not sure UK govt would add to it anyway as they are based in the Isle of Man.
Fai fair point, but as I mentioned I am no expert, was just thinking of how to get more funds to Paul,as these horrible cases require huge sums of money, I wish him and all those helping on his behalf the very best.
