Need to change the rev counter cable The olf one has sheared off at the end where there is a brass collar on the cable - therefore there is only the brass part and no cable beyond Have removed the old cable and when trying to fit the new one it wont fit I am assuming the snapped part of the cable is still in the retaining hole but cant see it Does anyone know which end is which ie does the end with the brass collar go into the tacho or the engine Also has anyone had the same and how did you get the broken piece out ?
Brass collar goes at the top (at the tacho end)..... If yours has been put in the wrong way round and the brass bit was down at the engine, you can remove the speedo drive pinion by undoing the single allen bolt and pulling it out..........that way you might be able to see easier inside the pinion and fiddle the broken bit out. PS.....If you do take the pinion out, be very careful putting it back in....don't force it straight down, but gently twist it in.... If it's broken at the tacho end, then it's probably easier to remove the top fairing and take the tacho out....... I had one break in another bike and I got the broken piece out using a very small thin sharpened screwdriver and managed to tease the bits of wire over so in the end it fell out.
