Ok guys, never had a single sider swing arm before so forgive my ignorance. When adjusting the rear wheel, do you need to compensate with the ride height? Moving the rear wheel is on a cam so does it not lower or higher the ride height?
No, not really. The only adjustment you will do to the rear wheel is move it back to take up any slack in the chain. There probably is some movement in the ride height, but it would be so small that it's really not worth worrying about. I've had 2 1098s so far and never needed to touch the ride height.
It depends on where the hub is, if it's in the right place then the ride height change is minimal but if it's already miles back it ends up just going up and down! I was advised to get a ride height adjuster and set the bike up each time which sounds like a faff but I think my chain only ever needed adjusting once! They shouldn't need loads of adjustment I don't think unless it's being over tightened
I would suggest that if you use the hub to tighten your chain then 3mm tighter on the chain will make about 0.1mm difference in the ride height and if you can feel that difference then I would be amazed. I have lowered the back end of my bike by about 15 to 20mm due to short legs, but cannot feel any difference.
Righto ... tbh i thought it wouldnt make much difference. .. always best to ask the experienced guys though cheers chaps
:Bawling:yes, adjust ride height via linkage rod. Moving the cam does change the ride height. Ignore the ignorant
