Riding gear for commuting in hot conditions....

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Briggers, Jul 9, 2013.

  1. What is everyone wearing while commuting in this lovely hot weather? I need to wear a suit at work and ideally want something that I can put over my work trousers, with my jacket in the top box.

My leathers don't allow for trousers underneath, and are way too hot in this weather anyway. My winter gear, although allowing me to wear my trousers under it, is obviously winter gear and just as hot as the leathers (no hotter though, strangely!).

So, I'm resorting to jeans, leather jacket and racing boots, then changing when I get to work. Not ideal, but it works fine, but I wondered if anyone had some bike kit that they recommend?

  2. obviously a set of leathers.

  3. Leathers on the legs, boots, Hein Gericke Gortex jacket with the lining removed (perfect with the rear vents opened) only my hands are bit sweaty, need some vented summer gloves, the Weise sheltex all season gloves are too hot.

Thinking about investing in a pair of Kevlar jeans, should breath a bit more than the leathers.

[TD]My wife shouted upstairs this morning, "The sun's just come out."
I thought "great", threw on some shorts and flip flops and ran down the stairs.
I was rather shocked when I got down to find our son holding hands with his mate George.......

  6. I know I've been following it, it did get the irony!

  7. Dianese leather jeans and Dianese textile/mesh jacket with Kevlar armour. Probably the best summer kit I have ever bought although sadly it seems the jacket is no longer available. Both zipped together.

  8. I wear my leathers, then get changed at the other end. Saves your suit getting creased by your back protector straps. Anywhere that has changing facilities for cyclists - or worst case scenario, the disabled loo - will suffice

  9. I ride in Draggin jeans with Knox armour, gloves, boots and a Dainese G-Air jacket with back protector. Perfect for summer and I can wear the jeans all day. If I need to wear trousers then I'll change in the office.

  12. What make are the gloves and boots?

  13. I'm still wearing my Rukka textile jacket (with the winter lining finally removed a week ago), my leather trousers (as my Rukka textile trousers have gone in for repair) and Forcefield back protector, along with my scruffy summer gloves which date back to my CBT 16 years ago.

I did contemplate the leather jacket/Draggin jeans combination I wore at World Ducati Week (and for the almost but not quite as hot ride to Chinnor Bike Dayz (sic) on Saturday) but thought sod's law would mean there'd be a sudden thunderstorm on the way home, and soggy Draggins would be too horrible to contemplate. I take my change of clothes in an Overboard rucksack every day - guess it's easier being a woman and not having to wear a suit!

  14. Make? Handmade out of chips and good wishes.

    (Alpinestars, Furygan, Dainese)

  17. Leather jacket, jeans, short boots and short gloves, and a nice airy OGK lid. If you're worried about crashing, I find not crashing helps...
