1199 Riding Position Comparison

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by MarketSquareHero, Jun 24, 2020.

  1. Can anyone who's owned a 1199 Pani. compare the riding position to the latest RSV4?
No dealership anywhere close to me to test so would really appreciate any opinions.
Just the riding position I'm after.
    Thanks

  2. Personally I find the RSV4 pegs to high for me. I am 6' 3" with a 34" inside leg though. The V2 engine layout gives me much more leg room on my 1199. The bars are flatter and wider on the 1199 as well although the tank and waist of the 1199 takes some getting used to as it is so narrow. Once you are in the groove though it is an advantage. My friend has an RSV4 and he is 5'9" and it fits him like a glove.

  3. I'm the same height mate.Found the 1199 fine when I owned one but I feared the Aprilia looked a tad on the small side.
Already checked on cycle-ergo but thought I would ask for real world experiences.
    Thanks

  4. Frustrating isn't it. Being tall isn't all its cracked up to be!

  5. I have had an 899 and an RSV4.
I am only about 5ft 8” and the RSV4 footrests did seem quite high and for me personally I felt like I was sitting on top of the bike rather than sitting in It.

both lovely bikes but I was more comfortable on the 899

  6. Had both (albeit a 2014 aprilia, so not brand new), IMO they are both actually very comfortable bikes (I'm 5"11), but as others have said the Ape is very tall (seat height, despite being small in size and despite loving the bike itself I never really got the feeling with it).... and i think that is due to being perched up ON the bike and not in it as @iang27 said.

  7. Thanks everyone.
Need to have a think on this one.On days like todays temp.I'm starting to think, do I really want to be on another sportsbike.
Then again how often do we get this weather?
Might start taking a look at the so called 'super nakeds'.The ZH2 looks very intriguing, and odd looking also which I like.
Went to the launch night before all the problems kicked off and it's certainly a one off.

  8. I've been doing some mods to my 1199 and it was parked at the side of the house after a couple of small runs up the road, sunset when I came out to stick it away and just caught a certain visual angle of it. WOW beautiful.
The Panigale. Timeless classic, rock solid, exotic superbike if you don't get it you don't get it!

  9. Hi, I've had a couple of RSV4's, and on a 1299 now. I'm 5'11", and have had no problems with comfort on the 2010, 2013 or 2019 Aprilia's, (nor the Duc.) A few guys on the Aprilia forum are 6'4", and say they are fine with it. But if you read MCN, all you get from their road tests are how small the dealer network is, and how the chief road tester "struggled to cram my 6'1 frame onto the bike'. (Bollox! They hardly mention it on the Blade, but see how the footrest height to seat distance is on the last 6 years or so!) Ride an Ape somehow, they're a stonking bike. Very much enjoying my Ducati now, but the Ape 1100 is probably in my future, now the kindergarten paint splash scheme is toned down! Dave

  10. Not beautiful to look at like the Duke, mind!

  11. No the front has always been a problem for me like the Kawasaki, shallow I know but that's me.......

  12. If there's no dealer close would it be a pita when service is due

  13. Just watched Michael Neeves on youtube talking about the latest super nakeds ane he mentions how small the RSV4 is and how the better option is the Tuono.
Agree about the Fireblade. From the pictures I've seen it does look a very extreme riding position for the road, very unlike Honda.
Since the Rocket Centre shut up shop we are seriously lacking in Aprilia and KTM dealers close by especially Aprilia.
