What's the general consensus on wheel rim tape? I fitted white tape on my black 749 and thought it looked great. Have a red Streetfighter now and have gone for white again. Not fitted yet though, a job for the weekend. Has anyone got a picture of a red SF with white rim tape?
My red 1098 came stock, except for red rim tape installed by the previous owner. I expected I'd take it off, but I quite like it, and because it's a tad fluorescent, it gives a bit of extra visibility.
I needed to get some rim tape for my back wheel after it was refurbished so picked up some 5mm tape off ebay. To be honest I was pretty pleased with the result. There's a nice thread in the Multi section all about it, which is the best kind etc. Personally I think that if its put on poorly (or its that reflective type for that matter) then yes, it can ruin the look, but I don't think it looks cheap. However, its certainly not bling, but merely just a nice little touch of personalisation that doesn't cost the earth Here's the thread in the Multi section Wheel Tape | Ducati Forum
I have have Red rim tape on my black wheels on my 748, it was de rigueur at the time as everyone was doing it. I liked it, I still have it on there but i think it is dated now. It has\will go the way of the current fad of having black wheels on the latest cars, everyone's copied\doing it, but i think the time has passed. I admit it can look good still.
I'd get it professionally waxed if you're that bothered. Apparently thats the best way to remove unsightly hairs Edit: just realised that Bootsam got there before me......by about 6 days!
Yes and the weeds............... well if you are going to bling it up then at least make the scenery pleasing!!!
The bike is on my neighbours drive, he bought the house about a year ago and disappeared to Thailand. I haven't actually met him yet, but when we do and if i like him then i'll offer to de-weed his drive The 2 bins are actually mine, my pride and joy, hence why i display them out the front of the house.
I quite like rim tape. I'd go for thin red on my SF. I'd really like some tape which incorporated a "Streetfighter" decal, preferably with a tricolour motif like these Marchesini ones. Anyone know if such a thing can be had anywhere?
what about rim tape with the word "wheel". hate rim tape unless its factory fitted ( and even then I tolerate it ) I also hate accessories that state ducati, or carbon etc on it......grrr but as I said earlier if it makes you happy then its your bike so go with what you like but be carefull you don't end up with the bike version of this....................... or even......
