Long story short, one of my Rizoma bar end mirrors fell off my bike today while out riding, got scratched up while bouncing down the road , anyone successfully repair scratches on these?
I managed to refresh the gold anodising on the rear suspension of my 999 with Tamiya Anodised model paint (spray). They may do an anodised black.
although initially infuriating, i always think of wing mirrors as a "service" part now, it was going to happen sooner or later. The good news is that it's black and it's satin/matt as even with little preparation i think you will find it will almost be unnoticeable after a coat or two, and with preparation and then building coats up/flatting down it will be undetectable.
This. Once you’ve flattened the scratches. it’s actually a good match on Ducati’s black cast wheels too.
They won’t come out well with paint as the surface is damaged. The only thing you can do is touch them up with paint or a marker. The only way to bring them back to new would be to get them machine polished once the anodising has been removed then to get them re anodised. Probs cheaper to buy new.
shame these aren't mine or i'd take that up as a challenge ^ - i doubt the O.P. wants to enter the Salon Privé Concours d'Elégance once it's done.
Have a look at stuff by Birchwood Casey. They do a number of specialist products for use on guns. They have a Matt and Gloss touch up pen that works well.
Not perfect but i can live with it, left a couple of the stone chips, sanded the damage with increasing grit paper, didn't use the spray, had some black alloy wheel touch up paint which did the trick
