996 Road Nose Cone - Convert To Race Fairing ?

  1. Anyone done this ? I did one many years ago with some ali mesh stuck on with some araldite and then lots of bumper filler but it wasn't great !

Any other techniques or ideas that people have done ?

I've got some replica fairings that are all painted with sponsor stickers etc otherwise it would be easier just to buy a race nose cone, I was planning on filling it (somehow and then putting a white vinyl numberboard over the filled section so it wouldn't need painting.

Same question for the rear tail light holes.

  2. Are you converting the bike to a full-time race bike or just going to a track day now and again? What you can do is make up some covers that go under the fairing that cover the headlights. You can fairly easily pull the glass light bucket out before a track day.

  3. Depends on what you want. I only ride during the day, daytime MOT, so have got LED DRL. I bought race nose, along with Ali front brace which can mount the standard dash and cut 2 recess holes in and mounted the lights on a plate behind. Amazing how much weight the headlights/buckets are. As mentioned...Would it not be easier just to removed the headlights and put a race nose on for track and then change back. My rear light is a small LED brake light only. SPS.2.jpeg

  4. Very nice.

Oh yeah it would be easier, but basically I want to tinker with something and mess about in the shed to be totally honest !

  5. It's just for the Ducati Owners club day on 1st Sept. Like I say above, it's just something to work on for fun, so I don't mind how much effort it takes or how long.
