998 Rocker Arm!

  1. So whilst the 998 is in for service it turns out that Ducati must have still used a dodgy chrome supplier for their rocker arms as one of mine has the age old issue of flakey chrome! So much for me thinking the 998 would be ok!!!! Anyone else had this on the 998? Any idea of cost? Cheers

  2. Have heard of it but I do believe it is very rare. Checked mine at just over 20k a few years back and all fine. Guess you've been very unlucky. Have a good search round t'Internet and you should find one for not too much money.

  3. I bought one off here for £30 odd. Or you could get it properly fixed at Newman cams for £40 odd and it will not go again. Newman cams may have a few weeks wait though.

  4. I would say for that money you are better to have yours repaired. If newman cams are known to do a good job. You would have your own part that is good. As buying another one you do not know how worn or how long it lasts?

  5. I did have the issue on my 2002 748s, seems to be an issue with the later era bikes.

I had JHP repair mine, but they took forever to get them back to me and although not as expensive as new items from Ducati, it was not cheap. Good job done on them though.

As others have said, Newman cams is the place to go to. Great value and will not fail again. Had I known about them before doing mine, I'd have bought from Newman.
