  3. Now Burgess has got a spare 15 minutes on his hands I wonder if he'll go back to Ducati to fix their bike.

  4. That relationship died at the end of the first year at Ducati. Burgess will retire as he doesn't need the grief and has enough money to retire very comfortably to his farm in Australia

  5. Good on him I say. Wasn't his wife badly ill last year?

lets face it, he's had the best run imaginable but as superbike planet points out he's competitive and rossi no longer is, why look to a different talent to nurture at his age when he can just retire.

it can't have been much fun this last couple of years, I bet VR hasn't been a barrel of laughs and JB's too old for this shit

  6. Fair play, it's been a long and fruitful run, and nothing lasts forever. Good luck to both of them. Now, if Rossi could tempt Guy Coulon away from Tech 3 I reckon he'd be onto something...

  7. Maybe gearing up for them both to retire... They had a good time over the years!...

  8. I can see Rossi following suit if Burgess retires. But maybe it'll signal a last hoorah in superbikes...

  9. Maybe Jerry Burgess will go and Rossi will spend more time working on his VR46 team, I was watching Italian domestic championship racing and he turned up once to support one of his riders.

  10. Most of the same sites that were saying Rossi would retire at the end of 2012 or Burgess would retire when Rossi went to Ducati.
It ain't over till the man says it's over.

Rossi has 1 more year on his contract. I would question why Jerry would retire now with the end in sight and why anyone else of note would replace him for just 1 year. The end of 2014 would seem a logical time for Rossi to go to WSB and Burgess to go home but then WSB, a new challenge would be hard to resist. Especially as i think VR would be very quick, very quickly.

  11. Valencia MotoGP: Valentino Rossi to split from crew chief Jerry Burgess | MotoGP News | Nov 2013 | Crash.Net

Soup :: Rossi Confirms Split With Burgess "The Father of My Racing" :: 11-07-2013

Nine time world champion Valentino Rossi confirmed today that the 2013 Valencia MotoGP race will be the final race for he and crewchief Jeremy Burgess.
Rossi called Burgess more than a friend, more than a crewchief, saying the Australian is "the father of my racing" but said he decided to make the change.
"Next year I need a new motivation and a new boost so I decide this will be the last race for me and Jeremy," Rossi said.
Rossi said it was a difficult decision. The pair have been teamed since Rossi began his career on an NSR500, After much success they famously left Honda together for Yamaha in 2004 where against nearly all odds they won Yamaha the MotoGP title.

  12. So, Rossi is saying he's splitting from JB to find 'something new' ?

I'm not overly convinced Rossi being off the pace is JB's fault really. Perhaps VR is struggling with that horrible fact of life which is we all get old, and when we do we slow down.

I'm not saying its disrespectful to JB as they clearly respect each other greatly, but it does feel a little 'clutching at straws' to me and smacks a bit of denial.

Im afraid even if Yamaha come to the 2014 party with a faster bike then my money would still be on JL to finish ahead of VR 9 times out of 10.

I don't particularly see who could come in to match JB's knowledge unless it's somebody that's not as honest with rossi and will simply stand there saying how great he is!

I get the feeling JB has simply stated some home truths and it's not gone down well.

  15. there seems to be some sour grapes as apparantly Yam knew for a week and JB was only told 5 min before the press-do..
if this is the case, then that is not nice on my book... not with such a history together...

  16. Real real shame I love J B's ethics great guy and I am a little shocked by the lack of respect shown by VR to him. You can't say it was JB,s fault the duke didn't work and blame him for VR,s lack of competitive results when JL is still running at the front. I get the basis of VR weight limiting his results but when he was beating Melandri, Biaggi, even pedrosa etc in his prime they were considerably smaller and lighter

  17. Sorry but just read he needs a new motivation, now I have loved Rossi from 125 through the ranks but this is to me a real et tu brute moment ( still he is Italian ) no doubt I will be corrected on my use of Latin ;)

  18. well here is rossi in the off-season.

you cant blame burgess for that

  19. But I’ve decided for next year I need to change something to try to find new motivation and to have a boost to improve my level, my speed. So this will be my last race together with Jeremy.”

The Doctor went on to add, "We spoke today, face to face. Next year will be crucial and I need new motivation. In the last few races I’ve felt I wanted to work in a different way. It was a difficult choice to make. Yamaha had asked me some time ago, but I decided recently."
