A new twist to the saga, with fresh rumours concerning Rossi's future... Ducati rider Valentino Rossi expected to retire from MotoGP at the end of this season - Telegraph
Probably is, or what do the Yanks call it..... 'plausible deniability' Either way adds spice to the party
Its a bit strange that ducati are testing a new engine, there are 3 tests coming up. Hayden is doing all 3 Rossi just 1. Why ?
they were talking about it with neil spalding during the moto-gp on eurosport.they said one of rossi's main problems was the way the power came in when he opened the throttle mid corner. It didnt suit his style of riding and electronics alone could not fix the problem so that is why there is new test engine with a revised power delivery suited to him.
New engine rumoured to be 75 degree V but the bigger difference will be weight as the 2011 engine was a stressed member = heavier, the new engine sits inside a frame so the weight can be dramatically reduced, the engine rule means they cannot/won't test on a race weekend as it will use one of their allocation whether they use it or not, private test booked for Mugello after Le Mans.
I appreciate the problems with the current engine, if Rossi is complaining about the engine why is he only doing 1 test, does not make sence to me.
Jon, I also read that by laguna the new frame/new bike will arrive which is designed for the new engine and weight bias will be correct for lighter engine. As for VR! i expect He's already signed for 2013/14 now Ducati are listening, I expect Audi/Vag have something to do with that, plus lot's of ££'s to invest in the bike is now available.
Hayden missed 2 test days, one injured and one rained off. He's still got the tyre allocation for 2 test's banked. Rossi has used his up. They can test anytime but there is a tyre restriction and no point testing on warn out tyres.
