Rosso Corsa Or Supercorsa Sp V2 899

  1. i really can't decide what to go for on my 899

My riding is mainly on the road (do a few track days a year) and I've only got just over 2k out of the current rosso corsas.

I do ride pretty hard on the road and am at the fast end of the inter group on track and am going to Luxembourg in June which is about 600 miles round trip of mostly motorways.

My worry is the supers won't last very long at all however some people have said they last about the same so now I'm confused and I don't want them to be squared to death after going to lux in June

    Help!

  2. Hi there chap, first bit of help from a basic level, sorry its a long post.
Best to suit track bike- Super Cora's=track tyres that's road legal, people have to ride hard on the road to keep them hot, meant for twisty fun at fast speed, poor wet weather performance, not built for touring straight roads
Best to suit bike road use- Rossi Cora's= fast road tyres, better wet performance than above, will easily take track days but not as grippy as above.
Good match with mileage in mind- Rossi 3's= brand new tyres no feedback available yet, set at more road orientated, meant to be good wet performance and a "v" shape profile for quick turn in, I would check the reviews for mezteler M7rr - I would say the Rossi 3 was built from the feedback from this product (Pirelli and Metzler share r&d, their same company, this is suspect feedback share only as I'm in the industry).
Best suit to journey your doing, still suit bike but slows up turn in- Pirelli Angel GT's= great sports touring tyres, one of the best in their competitor group, wet performance superb, I would say 5k plus on your bike, if you give your bike the beans but are not constantly on the edge of the tyre, as suggested by you lux trip I would recommend these, if you want to change brand then Michelin road 4's, if you want to stay sporty and not change back to track derived tyres when back to normal usage(extra cost, but spares kept for next long trip) then to keep bike lighter handling then rosso 3 or M7RR to do trip and keep on bike after, just remember the best tyre is A for the purpose you need it for, B that it suits the bike, C that's the extra cost that may happen, do not go by the test results show its position against competitors as they might not be using like you would, I am a bike tyre manager so am used to matching the right tyres for the usage bike and customer, not saying I'm the best but have been successfully doing it for years and the volume of return customers I have I must be doing something right!

  3. Hi mate

    Thanks for the reply

    My issue is that I have a 899 meaning the rear is a 180 60 17 ...

  4. God damn, getting on a roll and forget the basics! Rosso 2 would be the hardest compound for your bike, it has a nice "v" shaped profile for quicker turn in, I don't get complaints from the end users but I find they feel they need a step up in grip after gaining more riding experience, good tyres overall, there are Dunlop sportsmart out there which are very good, more miles than Rossi corsa! Only other option would be new for trip then if there squared off then another set! How many of the 600 mile are straight road highway?

  5. Sp,s on mine, road riding with a couple of td thrown in,no regrets as imo a better all round summer tyre.

  6. Hi, In my opinion the Rosso corsa were good on the 848 evo I had done around 3000 miles. But also th supercorsa so v2 on the panigale gave not bad mileage as well. I toured Europe on an R6 with a set of Michelin pilot powers on and got good miles out them as well. I would go for the Rosso corsas on the 899. Hope this helps

  7. I just don't know

I ride hard but I've got a 600 mile round trip on mainly motorways coming up :/

Got a feeling it'll hammer the supercorsas
