My 1198s splutters at low revs, almost like the fuel isn't getting through, then it surges forwards once I presume the fuel comes through. Is this normal; I have read a lot about the rough running at low revs but is is like mine with the fuel thing (if that is what it is)? Do they all need a remap to get the best out of them?
My 1098 is just the same, seems as though it is misfiring, but get it above 4000rpm and it becomes a different story. They are race bikes after all and not really meant to be around town, which brings me to.....................:Wideyed:
Not bloody likely, its an animal enough as it is!! I am riding the 848 at the moment but really looking forward to the grunt of the 1098 when I can be bothered to tax it, which will be real soon.
Changing the front sprocket to a 14T makes 40mph just about bearable but 30mph zones are a pain and to be avoided where possible. I'v had a re- map to take a bit of ignition advance out below 4k rpm but the fuelling is still wrong, I'm hoping to speak to Wilf at Motorapido to see if he thinks it can be smoothed out . Kev
pavey mines the same mate!! but by god there bloody fast once you crack that throttle open aint they?? scared the crap out of myself earlier when i went out.
A stock 848 aint much better mate, crap at low revs cough cough, splutter splutter then rips your arms out of their sockets, mine has 14 tooth front sprocket full system and custom map and is smooth as now, so I assume same can be done with 1098 & 1198. Might be better off going for a bigger back sprocket maybe 3 or 4 teeth
When I got my 1198s I was having problems with slow speed manoeuvres. Was like a bucking bronco at times. Dropping to a 14T front sprocket and using clutch slip smoothed things out. The old rule of 3rd for 30mph does not work, so use 2nd for 30mph. I eventually had the ECU remapped and this did smooth things out more and gained 10 extra mpg. If you are using the DP ECU then you could try the mapping I have to see if things improve.
You know Chris i got an 1198 ecu that you flashed for my 749, can i send you a 749 ecu to be flashed for my 1198? My 1198 has Akro's on it, and says what it should on the dash on start up (i forget now, but what you posted on that other thread).
