route planning Bristol to Heysham

  1. Yee haa my trip to the iom TT starts this Friday. I've started looking at routes as I dont fancy just hoofing it up the M5 and M6 in a few hours as I have the whole day to get there and my crossing is not until the early hours of saturday morning.

I was looking at going over the old severn bridge to chepstow, tintern, monmouth, ludlow, shewsbury and then past oulton park then getting on the M6 at warrington for the last bit to heysham.

I dont really know the roads that well around that side of the country, so I was wondering if it was worth going across to the west a bit more would be better, maybe Usk, abergavenny, builth wells, llandrindod wells, welshpool and oswestry etc etc.

Any ideas on a good route to take?

    Cheers

  2. Buith Wells, Newtown, Welshpool to Oswestry is a fantastic road. It's my chosen route when I go to the area, over the Severn Bridge, Abergavenny, then Buith Wells and up the A483.

  3. Any of those routes are good :)

  4. Moved to Touring
