Hi, I'm looking for alternative routes to the A361 between Devizes and Taunton. I ride from Northamptonshire down to North Cornwall 3 or 4 times a year - I really like the B3227 / A388 / A3072 / A39 from Taunton via Bude to Newquay. I also like the A361 from Banbury to Devizes, apart from the bit around Swindon. I find the A361 between Devizes and Street a bit of a pain. I've already had some suggestions about dropping down to the A303/A30, but I've used these routes for even more years when I used to live in Surrey. I'm more than happy to go across county on good B roads, I don't like riding any distance on dual carriageways and as for motorways - might as well be in a car, in fact better in a car. Anyway, suggestions welcome.
