Just for getting to and from work- the usual you know, somewhere to put work clothes, shoes and your lunch. I'm in two minds a the moment, magnetic tankbag or rucksack. I don't want to spend very much and will probably look on flea bay ultimately. Is it right that magnetic tankbags wipe your cards if you put your wallet in there?
Have a kreiger one, used about 3 times if you're interested, they are great but dont suit my fat neck
I use a kiwi rucksack it folds into bum bag for small things or you can use it as a ruck sack for weekends away I used mine loads
Tank bag or tailpack are better options. I'm never 100% happy carrying much in a rucksack as if you come off then potentially your back and spine might take the impact of whatever is being carried in a rucksack.
depending on price, certainly interested bradders Thanks for all your replies, I'm still contemplating a tank bag, as I don't need to carry a vast amount and on some of the rucksacks I've had I've always disliked the flailing straps, and the ohmid Djalili belly dance trying to get into them. Duckbird - liking the sound of the multirole backpack - her highness would be pleased by that as well as she's always moaned in the past about the rucksack/bumbag collection!
Yeah, need to know the bike - makes all the difference. Imagine my delight when trying to use the magnetic bag that had been such a boon on my 906 Paso when I got my 851 - it wouldn't stick. Sticks fine to the 999, wouldn't stick to the 916. I don't actually like tank bags and have given up on them. They interfere with the wind flow, even small ones, and don't go well with clip-ons. Big ones obscure the instruments totally and all of them interfere with my position over the tank (getting weight over the front). Best by far is a tail pack. My Givi (I think it is) one just zips on and off the 999. Don't know it's there when you're riding.
I found with a tank bag it reduced the reach of my arms to the bars I didnt feel comfortable with it.
I have a Boblbee rucksack. The great thing about them is that they have a hard outer shell to protect the contents and they also have a class 2 back protector built-in to protect your spine should you come off. One downside that I've just found out though, because I'm leaned over so much on the 748 and then have to look up/tilt my head back, the top of the backpack just hits the back of my helmet. Slightly annoying, going to have to see if I can change the adjustment on the straps.
If I have to carry stuff, I prefer tankbags.....I have a good quality magnetic one I bought years ago, but didn't use it much, so it still looks OK (and it's red)...... ....however if you are a little squit like me, you mind find it a bit bulky in front of you......but it does keep the nether regions a bit warmer and drier. If you don't mind it spoiling the lines of the bike it is infinitely better than a rucksack which spoils my body's perfect lines..... I also have a good red rucksack as well, but I find it prone to drag at higher speeds, so I feel it pulling......I have seen solid rucksacks, but they make you look like a turtle..... AL.
Have you tried a Kreiga rucksack? If not I suggest you do as there is zero drag and they are super comfortable.
You can LOL as much as you like..........but apart from looking like the Lunchpack, it's more a question of how much of the Kreiga will fit on me.... AL
