We all know that some clothing can be expensive and that doesn't necessarily mean it's good, however, in this instance, I can say that the RUKKA kit I wore saved me. A minor drama a few years back involved me parting company with the bike at around 100mph in Germany while on the Autobahn. The RUKKA ARMAS jacket and trousers were not cheap, but were worth every penny.
Good you are ok. I have looked at that jacket a few times but was put off by the fact that it is primarily designed for winter and not good for hot summer. The Gortex layer can not be removed and its black which (I think) absorbs the sun. I guess I will just have to stay on the bike.
Well I also was involved in an accident at much slower speeds in the uk & Trans-AM the uk warranty side of Rukka refused too send my kit for repair too finland. I have yet too get redress from this side of things but I intend to take the matter further as I knowingly acknowledged I'd been involved in an accident but was unprepared to allow a 3rd party company in the uk to fix the kit. Again due too the £2,000 cost of the Arma-S jacket & trousers. I have seen people on ukgser have kit replaced for imo trivial things. Which isn't why I'm going to be seeing the finish-maker but will be high-lighting how there subsidiaries act as judge & jurior in matters that should be dealt with in a professional manner. It is certainly good kit as I've racked up over 100,000miles but not when you want sections of material replaced even at your own cost!! Would I buy it again, yes
My jacket had a few vents which were useful in hotter weather, and you're right, I used it primarily as my touring / commuting kit and saved the leathers for the track / 'spirited' Sunday rides.
If you need to connect with someone in Finland then I would contact [email protected] (Export/Sales Coord, Motorsport at Luhta Sportswear Company who run/own Rukka). She wanted my kit to send to their R&D Dept to assess the damage. I had my original suit replaced as some of the Gortex panels went a brown colour, which was apparently due to defective / sub-standard material, but I sympathise with you and hope you sort things out. I am sure Rukka would be keen to hear from you and will hopefully point you in the right direction.
