Just wondering what other people’s experience is of Rukka trouser sizing? I know there are a few Rukka wearers on here particularly among the Multistrada gang (@tobers and the bald bearded bikers for example). Having recently been fortunate enough to receive a healthy bonus from work (don’t worry we’re not talking City fat-cat bonus) and because I ride almost every day I treated myself to a Rukka Armaxion jacket & trousers. My previous Halvarssons jacket and trousers were both size 54, as are my ancient leathers all of which fit well and I usually have no problems with off the peg sizes. The Armaxion size 54 jacket fits me a treat but when I tried size 54 trousers they felt a bit tight across the hips, the shop didn’t have size 56 trousers in a regular length in stock so they ordered and shipped a pair to me. They arrived over the weekend but now they’re here I feel like I’m swimming in them. It’s put me in a bit of a dilemma as I’ve sat on the bike and they don’t feel too bad at all, good across the hips and the knee armour is in the right place. But rather loose around the waist and slightly long off the bike, to get the waist right so they wouldn’t fall down while walking around and looking like a yoof with his underpants on show I end up with a couple of folds. That’s with the thermal liner in so they would be looser still without. Is this why you usually see Rukka wearers using the braces (which I’ve never bothered with previously)? Motolegends where I bought them have been excellent, they have put a pair of 54’s aside and I am intending to go back this weekend so I can try 54’s and 56’s back to back as it were. I would be interested to hear from any other Rukka owners who might have found the same thing and needed to go up a size on the trousers? Obviously we are all different shapes but if most other people have had the same experience it could save me a 170 mile round trip. Cheers
Bikestop do 15% off all Rukka stuff if you are a IAM member. Amaxis/amaxion might be my next rukka stuff as they have finally fucked off the stupid lockout thingie & gone to a wetsuit style zip.
On Rukka trouser sizing i always go for the longer length trouser but dont need to go up a size...i do go up a size on anything Italian made like Sidi boots or my Dianese jacket as the corresponding size is always a neat fit in Italian kit. My Rukka trousers are size 52 which are a good fit on the bike with or without liners and the longer leg length keeps the fit on the bike well (size 34 waist and 34 inside leg) At my normal weight (hovering about 16 stone) they are spot on but on my recent Norway trip with no wine and lots lower food consumption as wild camping i lost weight very quickly and felt as though the kit was hanging off me after just over 2 weeks away...... the missus fed me back up on my return though
