Running A Moto2 Or Moto3 Bike

  1. Just wondered if anyone has any experience owning/running one regularly for trackdays?

Have a friend who recently got one - and have been thinking it would be cool to try one out. Obviously i understand the engines are turned - but i could put in a stock either CBr600rr or triumph engine etc.

what about other running costs or are these really ornaments?

  2. Noise would be a massive issue. The suspension would need attention very regularly too as there race items. Plus every thing is pretty much bespoke on the bikes if you had a slight off would be very expensive to fix.

Plus a moto 2 bike is about 25k to buy moto 3 roughly 18k.

  3. Crash damage would be the biggest issue as, as you say, most who do run them on on fairly stock Honda 600s. But, bespoke frame and swingarm sir? Bring your biggest wallet….

  4. I looked at buying a package from the British series probably 3 years ago now. I came to the conclusion I didn't have the know how and experience to set the bike up and I didn't have the budget to keep the engine refreshed, even though the bike wouldn't be ridden anywhere near as hard. Eventually settled on an R6, an altogether more appropriate and economical package. Andy

  5. I'd buy a supersport 600 ex bsb or something like that far easier to maintain if being used.

  6. I think i am resigned to only doing Donnington and europeans for now so noise is less of an issue. reliability and ofcourse unfortunate events is what i am most concerned about.
I had a superstock r6 before which i loved so powerwise should be similar if using a stock cbr600rr or triumph engine.
hmm - now that i am slower - atleast it will look cool in the pictures:)
But on a more serious note - as these are race machines - are there any concerns or VAT to pay when importing them to UK? not sure how this works if its not road registered?

  7. Import one question is tough!! I’d be heading to sprain in a van and bringing back under a cover ;)

  9. Donny noisy days ok. But probably not the 98Db days. Don’t ask how I know

  10. I was looking for something to suit Carole that was better than her NC29 Gullarm which was getting a bit long in the tooth. Andy
