Running In 959 ??

  1. Hi there just wanted to find out who's followed, following the running in guide (sensible riding and staying under 6K) and who's ignoring it ? Wanted to see what your thoughts were on the running in period and what works best with the panigale.

  2. Don't be afraid to use the revs. I personally wouldn't leather it from the go, but explore the range when hot. Don't labour the motor or sit at the same revs for ages. Engine braking.

  3. First 100-200 miles exactly as they say. Biggest thing is not to labour the ending and vary the revs. Then I tend to add a thousand or so rpm every extra 100miles, but only on gentle throttle so as not to load it... Let it slowly gently build revs, don't nail the throttle open.

  4. Is the correct answer :)

  5. I asked just that when I picked my Monster 1200R from Hyside. Asked for an honest opinion not the company line. I was told to ride it "normally". Don't thrash the nuts off it but don't ride it like a pussy either. He actually said don't be shy about using all the revs and the only real no no was don't labour the engine. "Put it this way" he said. "Our demo's get 'used' from zero miles and they are reliable and all make decent power".

I followed that advice and rode as I always have - didn't slaughter it but certainly wasn't shy.

  6. What about the use of the quick shifter??

  7. Personally I wouldn't be going near the quickshifter until 600 miles+, they are hard on gearboxes and when your limited on revs it's hardly like you need the quick changes. Plus gives he clutch plates more use to help them bed in nicely.
