hi folks I've just bought a 748 advertised as spares or repair. The guy I bought it from said it was running fine but developed a missfire. I took her for a spin round the block today she will start but struggles to idle. Also when the throttle is opened it feels as though she's running out of fuel especially when on full throttle. I'm pretty sure it's a fuel problem so I'm thinking of staring with the fuel filter and working forward from there. Any thoughts please?
Check the QR fuel connector are ok. Also worth checking the fuel lines in the tank if the pump coming out. I start with a new set of plugs.
Simon, if you can, get the ecu fault codes interrogated, what you describe could be something as simple as a failing air temp or pressure sensor, you can spend loads of time and money chasing the fault. A developing misfire like you describe is likely fuel related but is more likely to be a sensor/transducer breaking down or simply the pins on each sensor connector corroding. Start with the small plug by the steering damper for example and look for water in the socket which will generate a fault. By all means do the service items but check the electrical systems and ecu codes for the obvious things first.
I have a spare set of plugs I thought about changing after I wrote this post. Did you sell your track bike?
It's up and running mot til April got spare bodywork with it £1900 needs a couple of tyres and pads but altogether a decent bike came with rCe cans and spare standard ones. Extremely happy chappy
I have a pair of powder coated white ones with good tyres I'm gunna put them on. Will just be a cheap bike for me to run around on
