So I recently bought an S4 that had been sat for several years, I've spent the last few days giving it a good clean, service including belts and valve clearances and now the fun starts! Good battery, immobiliser light flashes to tell you it's working (apparently this will stop after 48 hours so the battery doesn't drain). Using the red key turn ignition on I get, one flash (immobiliser is programmed), 3 quick flashes (3 programmed keys), one flash (indicates connection between immobiliser and ECU is missing) then the LED remains lit (ignition inhibited). So far I've tried all 3 keys, removed, inspected and cleaned all of the relevant connectors and now I'm out of ideas. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I think these had the separate immo box. There have been instances with the ST4S (uses same immo box) where the solution was to disable the immo in the ECU to get things working.
Hi Chris, yes on the later models there is a separate box under the airbox but my immobiliser is built into the clocks. I think the only next step is to have the ECU flashed but thought I'd get some other opinions first.
OK, saw it was a 2001 bike. Done a few Monsters with clock immo problems as well. Saves buying some new clocks. PM me if you need help.
It’s been a while but I thought I should at least update this as it did have a positive outcome. I have to say a big thank you to Chris who removed the immobiliser from the ECU, and after resolving a few issues I caused the bike lives! I’ve now done around 600 miles on the bike and although they haven’t all been without fault it’s been well worth the effort
