sachs rear suspension - compression adjuster query

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by guzzi eleven, Mar 3, 2014.

  1. Hi Folks

picked up sat, even at only 5k revs, whow.

Have to fiddle though (thats what bikes are for)

    Upon checking suspension adjustments..

The compression adjuster (just about accessible) 1.5 turns out from closed - although manual says clicks?
also fork damping says clicks - but turns.

The only clicks are rear damping screw.

    thanks chris

  2. Sorry Guzz
I don't know about the manual adjusters on the multie's but have a free bump from me.

  3. Yes, you are correct. My manual says "clicks" as well but he rear compression was set at 1 1/2 turns out from full hard (I've now set it to 1 turn out). As far as the front forks are concerned, the compression way too hard. I reduced that considerably to match the rear so the bike is balanced when pushed down on the seat and handle bar / fuel cap. Watch this video.....Pushing on Suspension - YouTube
Watch Dave's other videos too re setting sag etc etc.

  4. Thanks PK ,that makes good sense.
I remember my guzzi manual also had the odd typo

Do you happen to have any guide idea for 2 up ness fro the preload , number of turns , manaul /dealer a bit sketchy, although I did try mistankanly to ride on eup yesterday with too.. much preload on rear and its was skittish and horrible

  5. Chris, my rear preload is set so the inside edge of the knob is lined up with the forth marker line out from full hard (not sure how many turns that is but I think its about halfway) if that makes sense. The front preload is a quarter of a turn from full soft. I weigh 95kg and have found this gives me a rider sag of about 50mm front and rear. I haven't ridden two up yet so I'm sorry I can't help there....I suppose it will come down to how big the pillion is!
