  1. Anyone been following the americas cup? - there have been some highlights programmes on BBC2 at lunchtime on some days recently. My god those boats do get up to some speed racing around San Francisco disco bay - up to 50 MPH!!

anyway, US boat was 1-8 down to NZ boat, first to 9 wins, and the US boat came back from that to win 9-8.

Thats some achievement (with naturally a Brit as tactician- Sir Ben Ainslie), which of course makes it a little less a US yacht...

The NZ crew after getting to such a strong position must be gutted ( bit like a herring really)

anyway, if you catch a chance to see some highlights - worth doing. When they get hydro-foiling, its a sight!

    news link for you..

BBC Sport - America's Cup: Ben Ainslie's USA beat Team New Zealand in decider

  2. Been following on the news, as its an incredible come back and masterminded by what must be the best sailor this side of Raleigh

kiwis must be more pissed than all the times they get referred to as Aussies...

  3. I saw one last week. when they foil its pretty cool

  4. Great spectacle with amazing technology. The American skipper had an Australian accent didn't he ?

Weren't the New Zealanders 8-3 up, then the Americans were penalised back to 8-1, and it was then that Ainslie was drafted in and then they never lost another race ?

  5. The NZ crew pissed off, which NZ crew? The one on the American team or the one on the NZ team, or the NZ crew that built the NZ boat, or the NZ crew that built the Yank boat?

Yeah but, most of the country is right fucked off !!!

  6. Heard on radio today the Oracle team spent a billion dollars on this race. Gulp.

  7. I wonder how much of that went on the sailing and how much on the associated advertising campaign.

  8. Amazing boats, sailing at 2 and a half times the actual wind speed, awesome VMG figures.I would have no problems betting on an all Kiwi crew against an all American crew. The Kiwis are awesome sailors.

  9. f ed off to the tune of circa £20m govt support to the team as well......

  10. Fantastic bit of racing!

I'm confused about the USA VS NZ boats though. The USA team had ONE American in the crew? How does that work?

I really hope the interest will spark a movement to get a GB boat project started. We at least have one GB team member lined up
