Evening all, recently purchased some white samco hoses but didn't realise they would have nasty big blue logos printed on em!!!!! cant send em back as they were special order. Just wondering if anyone here knows of a product that would remove the ink (without fuckin hoses!) was thinking isopropyl or something.... Anybody?.....
I believe the logos are applied under the final clear tape wrap, so you won't be able to remove them.
Stow, I aint got a wife!!!!! but yea acetone could maybe work... Used to use something called tolulene (don't know the exact spelling!) for removing adhesives from the blades of a machine I was tasked with operating 28 odd years ago. That was powerful shite.. But if like antonye says there is a film over em all is lost! Don't have em to hand but I guess just sample it and see what gives.. Its a long shot but was hoping maybe someone would have a definitive answer... F.E Yes White!!!! you got a prob with that!!!!???? :Blackeye: I know... Like everything else I do its totally impractical and you cant see em to much but my bike is black and white and didn't fancy black hoses... Wait till I get me disk carriers done white...
I'd be nervous of using strong/stripping/organic chemicals on rubber hoses, if I did not know,exactly,what effect it would have on them? Or is that just me ?
No its not just you, hence the hoping of a definitive answer! But I think I could do a test on one to see if the ink was easily removed and whatever substance used could be neutralized before eating through the silicone... I would not like to blow a coolant hose but it aint a brake line... or is that silly? if it appeared ok and I done em all then....... I don't know.. just hate the blue and don't wanna spend £££'s!
indeed, fair play for asking and seeking the 'definitive'. sometimes its not just the short term effects, but longer term - e.g. rubber hardening etc. but as you say, coolant, and not the be all and end all, as long as it does not throw fluid over anything more important if ( hopefully not) it ever blows.
mmmmm..... Might just leave well alone and run em till I can afford to change... Could be worse... They could be green n gold eh?
