1260 Sat Nav Recommendation For 1260

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by 999nutta, Aug 15, 2020.

  1. hi all,
I pick my new 1260 GT up in a couple of weeks :)

Any recommendations for a sat nav unit?

  2. Not a Tomtom Rider thats for sure...not if you want it to pair with an iPhone at least. Phone calls may not be that important, but traffic, cameras and messages may be, you need to pair to have those work properly....

The TT site is full of people (including me) slating Riders. They have not been pairing with iPhones since October last year and TT do fuck all about it

Do yourself a big favour and leave em on the shelf. I wish I had done that and bought a Garmin instead

  3. Not a fan then?

  4. Zumo XT is the latest and greatest, if you can find one. There’s a big thread on here about them.

  6. It depends on what you want!
TomTom v Garmin is like BMW v Audi (cars that is).

For me a TT Rider 550 and an Android phone works great with my Sena headset and is easy to use and set up with a clear screen. I don't want music / YouTube etc when riding and the Garmin gives all that and more making it, for me, more complex with functions I wouldn't use so a simpler device like a TT550 is great.
Routes are easy to create on TYRE or the MyRoute App and simple to transfer to the device.

  7. Just put a Garmin 595LM for sale in the classifieds section.

  8. At some point, I will be getting a new Satnav. I've got a TomTom Rider but I wouldn't buy another. I'm getting a Garmin.

  9. Garmin XT, definitely. If you've spent all your money on the bike I have my Zumo 590, just about to go on eBay. £230 posted and it's yours, comes with all the bits plus a spare new in the box bike cradle and cable.

  10. thanks for all the replies.

I have managed to source a garmin. Just need to get the correct fitting bracket for it now as by the looks of it it just comes with a bar clamp

Preferably the one you already have for your car if it's 5" or less and double use-it.
Mount it with a Ram Mount cradle to whatever bracket you prefer.
Alternatively, find a cheap Garmin Nuvi new or used. It's just a GPS where the difference in price is best used elsewhere.

  13. I fitted a Tom Tom Rider 550 the other day but haven't had a chance to get out and use it yet so I can't comment on it from first-hand experience. When I was researching, the split was about 50-50 between Garmin and Tom Tom. People had gripes about both and points they like, too. I also can't comment on for the review below but I'll throw it in for added information.

  14. +1 on GArmin XT

  15. EB27427D-5219-40D6-B65D-70839B4D7827.jpeg This is my “travel” setup. ZUMO XT Bluetoothed to a starcom1 kit, so no batteries to go flat. XT is on a modified SWMotech bracket. Qi charger for phone backup maps etc (can be removed in approx 10 seconds).

  16. Sort of regret selling my full Autocom kit. Got rid when I bought my MV as that had zero space for anything under the seat.
