1200 Sat Nav Wire Placement?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Ff6022, May 1, 2015.

  1. Hello guys done a search and just found threads on mounting. I wanna now what's the best way to route the wires? I'm gonna go direct to the battery and tried today wireing under the tank plastics but the wire is to thick. Any help is appreciated.

  2. From what I remember there is a spare connector plug down by the fuse box that provides ignition on 12v. This is for your satnav. I'll try and find a good post to link too.

  3. Spare pair of wires. White and black in colour. Tied in a bundle with the loom under left fairing. Just unscrew the black bits and its there. It is inked to ignition so no danger of draining battery.

    Yes its 12V

  4. Yea sounds good and I've seen it in previous posts but I don't have that connector and I would like to use the extra USB output on the sat nav loom to charge phones and scarla's and what not wen I need too. If I need too.
I am thankful for the responses.

  5. Does your satnav run off USB? I use this. 2 USB ports. You could use one for phone and one for satnav. For me it's one for phone and one spare for whatever. Action cam, missus's phone etc...

  6. cheers I don't really wanna take that route. As I will be changing to the navihalter or touratech locking mount at some point so want to get it hardwired. Just wanna know how other people have routed the wires. Cheers

  7. I did it the lazy way, but will tidy it up when I need to take the tank off sometime: from the Ducati supplied connector forwards and up through the gap, emerging at the back of the left hand black fairing infill. Then cable tied to the existing cables forward, up under the instrument panel, up behind the Navihalter and cable tied to one of the spare two adjustment holes at the side of the mount. Jon.

  8. so do u have urs plugged into the Ducati sat nav plug?

  9. Funnily enough I did this yesterday as I had to fit my Sat Nav and also fitted some Oxford heated grips. I took off the front RH black trim (with the little flap) for ease of access. I just routed the wiring down by the yoke and poked it behind the rear of the trellis frame and pulled it through so it popped out to the right, in front of the battery. Takes a bit of poking around, but it gets there easily and is all hidden.

  10. thank u bud. I was gonna look at that route tomorrow. Probs go with it too. Did you manage to get the USB up by the yoke?

  11. Mine has given me USB by the yoke. Would take pics but bike still getting its engine rebuilt[emoji31]
