I've just bought a new Monster SP and I want to mount my Garmin Zumo xt on it but I'm having trouble identifying a suitable mount/location. The steering damper seems to get in the way of an ignition lock located mount and if it's mounted off the handlebar clamps I think it will obscure the bike dash. Has anyone solved this problem/have any recommendations?
I’m sure someone on here, very recently posted that they had made a 3D printed clamp for the mirror stalk that you could put a ball mount on. Not sure what key words to use for the search engine though. Andy
Only 3d clamp thread I could find was for a multistrada not a monster. The search for a solution continues ...
I just used a handlebar clamp I had in the drawer while I waited for my stem mount to arrive. Worked fine.
Yes it’s a 1200 Monster. It doesn’t have a steering damper. But if it did, where I’ve shown you the satnav mounted wouldn’t interfere with the damper. My friend has the same setup on his with a steering damper.
At least I wasn’t going mad. I know little about 3D modelling and printing but there is a knowledge base on here. Maybe someone can come up with something to fit your mirror stem ? Andy
@NBB's post triggered me to go and take a look at all the bits that came with the Zumo and, lo and behold, there's a handlebar clamp. It's a bit inelegant/bulky but it'll certainly do the job for now. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Ah ok, the OP is talking about the latest Monster SP. I struggled to find a location for the sat nav on mine, in the brief period I owned it!
If your challenge is with a steering damper, I've got a solution. If you don't mind, I'm going to simply point to you my post on this very topic. See my posts here especially #8. https://www.ducatimonster.org/threa...onster-r.334306/?post_id=3067506#post-3067506
Just mounted my Beeline II nav to my SP....cracking device, used it for the first time in anger a few months ago for 2 long days out on the Scrambler in Northumberland / Scottish Borders, it didn't miss a beat. Far better than the original Beeline. Looks nice and discrete on both bikes, just need a second handlebar bungee-mount for it, and on the SP it's nowhere near getting in the way of the steering damper
