I am looking for a nice 1098 / 1198 so picked up a conversation following an e bay posting. It was a white 1198, UK plate associated with it checked out. Lots of clear pictures showed a great example. Being new to buying bikes 'online' was naturally cautious. Story about why it was so cheap ( aren't they always ) however some digging around found they had lifted a name and location from somewhere to pretend to be someone they were not. They offered photo of V5, them and their passport ( yet to be rec'd ). E Bay listing removed now of course. It wasn't the weird gmail account name, the thing that alerted me was the very slightly strange syntax, using the term 'Vehicle' not 'bike' or 'moto'. Also note one of their first questions was where about I was located, then of course the bike is in Shetland and they had moved to Madrid. Given they had stupidly used a motorcycle club chairman as their pseudonym, a short phone call exposed it. We should use phones more. I suspect my name will be the next one in line... if you see 'me' selling a bike in the next year... its not me. Cavet Emptor
its back on e bay... avoid https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-1...174909?hash=item3dae5a8cbd:g:ltoAAOSwwGdfnBYn
1681 items for sale, cars, bikes, boats, not in the same location going by the photos. Not much feedback.
I saw some of their scam eBay listings too As always, if it seems to be too good to be true it usually is.
Obvious scam , been around for a while, best way to check if legit is to look at the sellers other items for sale, that's what I do,
Also this is a giveaway, payment instructions away from eBay ‘hidden’ in a photo so eBay can’t search for keywords
This dodgy bike is doing the rounds again. Steer clear. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-1...p4429486.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
