Called into the bank yesterday to pay in a cheque and this afternoon receive a text with my correct name saying I visited the bank yesterday to speak with **** have not confirmed the name is correct, but with a link to complete a survey. HOW the feck do these bastars do this? In my simple mind, it could be a coincidence? otherwise they must be able to hack into a low level of the bank's operating software? Any thoughts?
Your first port of call should be the bank to see if it’s from them or if they share your/their info with anyone.
Text is more difficult than email to suss. But they do test to request surveys. But that survey will never be asking for your details, just ‘how did it go’ type questions.
Thanks Paul, have just confirmed with fraud dept. that local branches do send out text messages with a survey link. No scam involved
