Scorpion Vs Conti Exhausts

  1. I half-fitted some Scorpions today, they sound quite meaty but not overly loud (even without baffles). I couldn't finish the job as I don't have the standard hangers to hand.

I think I still prefer my Conti's but probably something in between would be ideal.

  2. I've got Scorpions on my yellow 750 and they're nice, not too obtrusive but sound great when giving it some! I run them baffles out.

  3. I too have scorpions, there for an ie but on my carby sound great, I don't have baffels and you can fell the thump of the engine. I have got an open airbox, and that dose make a lot of noise by itself. I do like the look of the scorpions on your bike, not sure I like the sweep of the conti's.

  4. The Contis don't really look quite right to me.........but is that because I'm used to the upswept link pipes on my Lazers?

Note: it is possible to have pillion footrests with hi-level cans.......I just fit them for the MOT.

  5. And Carbon Can Company oval stainless low level jobs, with a SL style seat unit... lots of ways to skin the same cat :D

(750 looks great BTW Al, that alloy swinger is terrific!)[IMG]

  6. It's the earlier carbed 900SS swingarm.......the later carbed one has the deeper brace.

  7. Hi all, hope you're having a good weekend.

I'm trying to swap over to the Scorpions, and seem to have the same setup as Fire3500 (Scorpion exhaust brace and original rear Ducati hangers), but I can't seem to find any way of getting these to align up. Apart from taking some mole grips to the stainless brace and bending the tabs drastically. What's the trick?

  8. Some pics, can't get the exhaust to position centrally under the rear hangar. I'm worried that bending the mounting tabs would wreck the stainless steel mounts..

  9. Drill the rivets out of the end caps and turn them to the correct position, then re-rivet.

I had to do the same with my Lazer cans.

  10. My guess...

    1) The link pipes are not twisted to the right spot... get a bit of copper grease in the joints and you can move them around a bit more easily... you're trying to get the link pipe to place your can in the right place and it takes a bit of patience and tinkering.

    2) Those retaining straps (is that what you're calling the brace?) are fairly bendy steel items, when your cans are in the right place you can give them a twist (put some insulating tape over a pair of pliers if you want to avoid scratching them as you tweak them)

    3) Think about the swingarm. Your swinging arm will need to clear the can at full suspension compression so think about that when you're aligning the case.

Hope that helps? I'll bob out and take some pics in a min for you :)

  12. Thanks - much appreciated.

  13. Make sure the swingarm doesn't foul the cans when the suspension is compressed.

  14. Sorted. I ended up buying the offset hangars from ebay and they are perfect for the job. Again thanks for all the advice.

They sound fantastic and I agree they look better. I didn't think it was possible to get any more excited about this bike than I already was.
