Has anyone fitted a Scottoiler to their 1200? Seems a bit snug under the seat - just wondering what others experiences are...
I have an system I want to fit. The only places ive seen are on the trellis frame by Scottoiler, their recommended place and by someone who had a 2010 (I think) 1200S and she placed it on the near side between the rear sub frame and the long side panel. Problem with that is the 2016 model that I have does not have the same size gap, it's smaller.
I was hoping to fit the reservoir in next to the seat lock. It just about goes, but I'm a bit worried about it getting squashed. I have the seat on the higher position, so it may be ok. At least the vacuum screw is easier to access - should make for a fairly simple installation.
Re-visiting this tonight - just waiting on a couple of bits to arrive from Scottoiler to make the installation easier. I might try fitting the reservoir under the seat, put some cardboard over it, re-fit the seat and sit on, and see if the cardboard becomes indented. If it does then it's going on the subframe rail.
Managed to squeeze the reservoir in under the seat. It's a bit tight, but I was able to get my hand in under the edge of the seat, and I could feel a gap, so it seems ok.
The reservoir was fitted on my Multistrada, hence still full of oil (and a bit scuffed). I cut a couple of pieces of rubber to stop the reservoir getting bumped against the edge of the lug that the adjacent electrical connector mounts on.
The 2016 Multi looks nothing like that under the seat and the Scottoiler wouldn't fit where you have it on yours.
I know! I think you misunderstood me. This is the reservoir as fitted now to my 2016 Monster 1200S. But it was previously fitted to my last bike, a 2014 Multistrada S. Sorry for the confusion!
