Scottoiler

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by ymfb, Feb 25, 2014.

  1. Has anyone fitted a Scottoiler or other auto chain lubrication system to an 1199 Panigale, if so which model and can you post a few photos ?

  2. After three days and 74 views I will take that as a no. So the obvious question is why ?

  3. Though not a pani owner the first thing I did when I got my 996 was take the scotoiler off. In my experience on two bikes was they do a good job of lubing the chain but an awful lot of other bits on the bike too. Though I can see that someone doing high mileage may want to use one how many panigales will do high mileage or be ridden often in mucky weather. Many will be cleaned more than they are ridden therefore not a surprise that there are few responses.

For my 996 it is far quicker and easier to apply chain lube after a ride than clean the mess from a scott oiler.

  4. My Pani is for high days and holidays and track days. As a consequence it's no real effort to clean/lube the chain after each use.

In the past I have used Scottoilers on my chain-driven daily rides but they are always a bit of a faff to set up just right and on an occasional use bike the setting-up time and constant adjusting is on balance not worth it.

    Just my 0.02c

  5. You spend a lot of money on one just to oil the road. Much easier to lubricate in the garage.

  6. They are shit..................simples
