Hi all! Anybody have any experience with Scottoilers on their Multi? Thinking about investing in one but never used one before. I regularly clean/oil the chain but was thinking this might be a bit of a labour saving device. Cheers!!
I will be fitting one on mine so any clues or photos would be a great help. There may well be something on here or the web, but I haven't looked yet.
Fitted a Scott oiler on all my bikes, best bit of kit you can get, currently in Spain but will take photos when I get back if no one beats me to it
I fitted a Scottoiler eSystem, initially with the supplied single injector. At the start of this year I fitted a dual injector using a mounting bracket designed by a member on this forum, Vau, and available to order from ShapeWays. I think the dual injector works better than the single injector. There has been lots of discussions regarding Scottoiler installation on this forum, a search on "Scottoiler" is a good start. Also there there is an installation pictorial on AndyW's Motorcycle Info Pages - which is brilliant resource and well worth taking your time to explore.
Buy a 'DID heavy duty chain' which is a sealed unit & doesn't require oiling. Then systematically lube or wax the chain too keep it in good condition externally. I've had the e-scottoiler also & dual head system on my F800GS and just found occasionally it would leak loads of oil onto the tire (As the chain on that bike is on the right hand side). Which of course annoyed the hell out of me as the kit was £200+
Pdoiler Install | Ducati Forum Fitted PD oiler to mine. It's timed so not effected by temperature of different thicknesses of oil. Simple install. Chuffed. Going to make a bracket for the injector when I get chance
Never had any luck with them, hopefully they're better now than they used to be. Either the whole back of the bike was covered in gloop or the chain dried out, could never find a happy medium. And honestly, how hard is it to lube a chain?
Well cared for DID or RK chains (heavy duty) will well and truly see you through 30,000ks. What is it you are trying to gain with this ScottOiler thingamajig? I've just had a quick squiz at the calendar and it says 2015, not 1948. Just winding you up lads
I had one fitted, it seemed to work well for a while, but has stopped, and not sure why, seems to get air locked, need to look at it more
I've used one on each of my bikes for years now. No issues, as long as I pay attention to the flow rates. Higher flow in winter, lower in summer. If I forget to turn it down, I end up with more than the usual amount of gunk on the back wheel rim, no biggie.

Had Scottoilers fitted to all my previous bikes but to be honest I could never get the flow rate right. It either didn't flow enough to lube the chain or lubed the entire rear of the bike including back tyre! Decided not to bother with the Multi as I thought I wouldn't be doing enough miles to warrant the hassle. Wrong!!...... I do more miles on the Mutley than I've ever done on any other bike I've had, including full blown tourers. It's just such a blast to ride!
I wouldn't be without a Scotoiler. ST2 55,000 kms out of 1st chain & sprocket. 60,000 on second set. MTS 1200 I got 50,000 on the first and it had failed for a few thousand kms. Much easier than farting around with chain lube when touring.
Totally agree and I don't seem to have the same problems as others regarding settings. Even when there is a bit of oil on the inside of the wheel rim it easily wipes away. I have to say the dual injector makes a good difference as well which, with the adaptor (see vau's post above), is almost the complete package for touring. Best bit? Fill it up and forget about the chain for 100s and 100s of miles - perfect for a lazy arse like me!
