Screen for 1198 Advice

  1. Hi,

Looking to replace my original clear screen with a darker tinted version - any advice on which one I should get.

    Thanks

  2. I ran the Ducati taller screen on my 1098 and it worked pretty well. Looks "right" to as it follows the fairing lines. I didn't go for a double bubble as they didn't look right, but the whole screen thing is a marmite thing.... you'll either love it or hate it.

  3. I went through this debate with myself recently. The stock screen looks wrong to me and gets in the way of the clocks so I ordered a DP high screen from Ducati Glasgow. They are fitting it when it goes in for the first service next week. There's one the same on eBay now (wasn't there when I ordered mine!)

  4. Thanks guys, yeah i saw that one on ebay this morning looks pretty good, this is not a double bubble screen is it ?
Whats the general view on normal Vs the double bubble - i was reading somewhere on the forum about melting dash's because of the double bubble screens acting like a magnifying glass etc. not that I am an expert !

  5. Personally I've never been a fan of Double Bubble style screens and even more so on the Ducatis I've seen. That one on eBay is the official Ducati Performance screen and is 30mm higher than stock but a single profile (no ridge / bump). I went for that one as it was single profile and I hunted like hell online and only found that one or one from Radical Ducati that worked out a lot more expensive after I contacted them for postage costs etc. All the others I found were Double Bubble or the same profile as stock. One I never figured out properly though was the Zero Gravity Corsa screen as I couldn't find anywhere that stocks it here. It looks huge though but is basically a big bubble screen like you see on TT bikes. (I think) This might be worth a look?

In the end I opted for the DP screen and am just getting the dealer to fit it while it's in anyway. For the record it was £108... (!)

  6. Cheers Andy, I think i'll have a look at the one on ebay, looks in good condition ! hopefully fitting it should be straight forward!

Who would have thought finding a screen would be so complicated !

  7. No probs. :)

I thought the same but there is practically no choice if you want a high screen that is not a double bubble by the looks of it. I wasn't sure if I wanted a clear one or a tinted one but ended up it had to be tinted unless I went double bubble so it resolved itself in the end. Reckon the dark screen will go well with my bike's paintjob anyway so it's all good.

  8. Powerbronze dark tinted double bubble on mine. Huge improvement.

  9. I hate the look of the high rise/double bubble screens, but no denying the benefits, hence I do have one.
I had one of the chinky cheapies on my old 848, no probs and a bargain for £14!

  10. I have said it before and I will say it again, the stock screen is total shite. I think the double bubbles are bang on styling wise. The one i have matches the tint on the headlights and for £40 transformed the appearance. Everyone thats seen it so far has been impressed. Saying that, if we all liked the same thing everyone would ride a Ducati:upyeah:

  11. @Timberwolf - could you please post up a pic of the bike with the screen fitted? Thanks

  12. I will if I get chance to take it outside at the weekend. Its in the house in a corner at the moment and quite difficult to photograph.

  13. thanks - i am thinking i would like a new bigger screen but not too dark - have carbon clocks etc and want to see them !
Been wondering about which is a better fit visually

  14. I'm actually being swayed towards the Powerbronze - just for the looks. The Ducati Performance just looks too "plain" of you know what I mean, I quite like the original screen shape & the nearest double tinted is the Powerbronze !

  15. It does suit the lines on the bike. The ducati Performance one reminded me too much of an 80's sports bike. As I said, i will try post some pics over the weekend.

  16. Me too excellent quality and good price

    Regards Steve
