I spent some time significantly reducing the free play rattle of the screen mount. This was necessary because I fitted the accessory sat nav screen mechanism mount. At full height there was about 3 inches of play and I was worried the Garmin might be shaken off or flexing damage might occur with the extra added weight. The causes of play were 2 reasons: 1) the nose of the bike not being braced against the headlight 2) the self aligning plastic ball bearing had about 1mm play between ball and outer race which translates to a lot of play at the end of the screen. Attached are photos of my fix to limit the movement by buffering against the headlight. I used sugru and had some of those plastic mounts for airhorn trumpets in my box of general spares. The glue is only to the headlight case. The self aligning ball bearing had already been replaced by the dealer under warranty after it jammed. I think I found where they source them from. www.igus.co.uk part number KGLM-10LC. This is the version that is split on the outer ring. I wrapped two layers of insulating tape to squeeze the ball up. I think a 3rd layer would make insertion difficult and could split the housing. IGUS was very helpful and I said I would put the part number on the forum to help other owners. that's it really. The overall look has not changed at all. Just a lot less freeplay. I tried to post a video of the difference but failed.
Well done Andrew - I used the superglue fix on mine, but I love Sugru - I bought shares in them when it first came out
