Has anyone ever come across the phrase "Screen Price" on when buying a Duke? E.G "We will service the bike for the screen price"
I'm guessing it's like window/advertised price, so they will service it for that, so no discount but serviced?
Yep - I've come across this before. It's the dealers method of fixing the price and eliminating any price negotiations. As soon as any price reduction is mentioned they then withdraw the service, warranty, new tyres etc etc.
menu pricing. fiat used to offer low millage servicing that still maintains your warranty, probably still do.
The "Screen Price" is the price that's written on the screen of the bike / car. (i.e. the dealer's asking price). What he's saying to you there is that if you pay their asking price that they'll carry out the service for you free of charge / included in the price. It's not a dodgy tactic or anything, he's just making you an offer to see if he can coax you into paying the full asking price. The alternative would be to drive the price down a little and pay for the service, but I'd bet that ends up costing more. Unless you get it serviced elsewhere for less. Andy
Thanks All!! Kinda guessed that was the case. I'm looking at 4 SS's at various dealers and none and I mean none, will budge on their prices. It's made more difficult for me to negotiate direct as I'm in Cornwall. Any pointers to drive a hard bargain? It's one of my week points!!
Tell each one you are looking at three similar bikes elsewhere, you have cash in your pocket and you are looking for their best possible deal.
Cheers Duke. I've tried that tactic with no luck. Yeah sure enough paying a higher price as apposed to buying private but how can these guy expect to get a sale with prices that are between £800 - £1000 over the odds.
a local dealer had a 999r in for over a year. just stood never moved and the price never changed £9995. it was an 2003 model and priced way over imho compared to others nationwide. would they budge when I made a quick enquiry - nope. just keep looking when 2 feet of snow has fallen and their business has dried up before next year or wait and buy private.
