Hi All, I was just wondering what the thoughts are on this forum of screen protectors for the "clocks" on the newer Multistradas. I've not taken delivery of my bike yet but was wondering if you had experienced scratches without a protector, or whether it's all just snake oil. It's not like they cost a lot, but worried the adhesive might hurt the screen or be hard to remove. I was just checking some out here: https://www.speedo-angels.com/product/ducati-multistrada-950-1200-1260/
Got a speedo angels one on my DVT. Screen had some swirly marks on it and the protector effectively masks those and prevents further marks. I'm happy with it.
I did use a protector for over a year, but just don't touch or wipe anything off the screen. As it does scratch in an instant! Don't know about the newer bikes but its just not worth it unless you are cleaning it off with lots of soapy (not washing liquid) water.
Was very careful with the similar screen on my MV Agusta and it still had a few swirls. Similar screen height adjuster to the DVT and a gloved hand can brush the screen especially with the regular GPS bracket fitted. Put a SpeedoAngels protector on my 1260 the day after I collected it, unfortunately there was something trapped under it which irritated the hell out of me so ordered the Nano Glass version and replaced it with that a week ago. Took a few attempts to get it lined up correctly; starting at cut-out around gear indicator working right to left and left end not quite right vertically meant peeling it up and trying again. However, it's better than the last attempt albeit there is a bit at the very bottom left edge, a couple of mm at most, that now isn't properly adhered to the screen... The old protector peeled off easily and without any issue.
Speedo Angels anti glare on my screen. One tiny bubble where there must be a speck of dirt, but pretty good. Hides a few marks well, buddle cant be seen once ignition is on (and only visible to me on very close inspection). Fit and removal is exactly same as on a phone. Whats not to love for £12?
I got some off ebay - applied great with no bubbles at all, very happy with the results. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-BROTE...823618?hash=item51fa5e2042:g:pagAAOSw2s1clOtX
Wow, so many replies, thanks everyone. It's sounding like a no-brainer then. I might even get the dealer to fit it before I take collection.
Yes the protectors are good, but I found the 1260S screen seems a lot more resistant to scratches than the 1200
