Can anyone recommend a good dealer or independent for servicing a 950 Multistrada please; I’m based in SW London/NE Surrey, but prepared to travel if needs be. Usually use Ducati Croydon but I’m apparently looking at August, which is somewhat annoying as for all the guff they email me to sell stuff, I’ve received no warning about the workshop queue. Thanks.
There are several and testimonials will probably follow, I use Phil at Chertsey for MOT's and will use for servicing in the future if and when. https://www.surreymotorcycles.co.uk/
I know a top mechanic who doesnt advertise but builds race bikes and does bike restorations , KT9 postcode ,I can ask,but obviously no good if you need a stamped up book type service. You can supply all the parts required so you have all the receipts and dates to show whats been done
Travel to Alton and WM Snell. It's a nice ride. Theres a great cafe and even an old train thing. I live by J6 M25 and thats where I go.
Thanks for the responses, WM Snell was an even longer wait than Ducati Croydon so it's down the independent route, booked in with MD Racing at Walton on Thames next week.
- to complete the thread it would be great to tell us how it went, diplomatically of course, as although a bit "knife-edge" it could be a good advert for above. Many motorbike repairers/servicers come over a bit "Marmite", and within these pages you will find for and against comments for nearly everyone, apart from Neil at Cornerspeed that is.
Bike taken in last Thursday, collected same day. Both I and the guy 2 doors down (who owns a 950S) found the difference in the brakes to be night & day from the feel in them after the last main dealer service; less lever travel, no pumping up. The rear brake is better. The bike seemed to me to be running a bit smoother as well. The last service & MoT at the main dealer a year ago was £294.53. This service, MoT & the brake fluid change front & rear was £401.65, of which the brake fluid change was £60; so in effect £341.65 for the same work as the main dealer did last time. How much more expensive that is in real terms I don't know, as given the way prices have jumped for stuff over the last year I have no idea how you can accurately compare the two? What I can say is that from the feel of the bike, but particularly the brakes, I'd be much happier putting in back to MD Racing that the previous dealer, even if it is more expensive. Coincidentally, the 950S owner has booked his in at Bridgland's other recommendation, Pro Twins. I'll ask him what he thinks when it's done.
I can thoroughly recommend Scott at SNS. he really knows his Ducati, Especially 90's + plus models. Have my 996S done there and he was brilliant and VERY inexpensive imo
Ok cool i have asked pro-twin who will revert Monday if the costing is worse than i imagined i will drop SNS a request to see if its a better deal, thanks for the info
They're both very good. But different - bikes in warranty... PRO-TWINS... need something custom PRO-TWINS. Just looking for Excellent indie Service, by a bloke with some passion. That's Scott. As I said I use both
Hi had my bike back from pro twin for a week now it was running great but i did something very stupid i took the chip out of the ecu wuth the ignition on no bike primes and turnover but wont start
Hi ok rushed the messages anyway i will check it in with my mechanic so he can tell me the worst as i dont want to start replacing parts when it may be just the ecu or chip thats the main issue Thanks
Hi i looked very closely i cant see any pins not in the right place wish i never touched it i btoke the pin of the existing chip and i bought a JPH chip i dont know if it works
