Servicing Advice

  1. Lads, most of you are far more passionate about and more involved in the brand than me, (I'm here for the craic) so wanted to ask some honest advice.

I bought a 2019 Multi 950s with 17,000 miles for a good price from a dealer, accepting it needed a Desmo etc.

Thrashed it around for a month and duly completed the Desmo and at the same time, new chain and sprockets, tyres and the usual oil and filters etc. Also added an Akra and all the other gizmo's we all like. The MOT was also completed and showed 18,007 miles. This was April last year.

So, approaching the time to start booking annual services etc and I am touring Europe in May too, but (and please don't shout), the bike now has 18,700 miles, so yes, I've covered just 1,700 miles in the last year.

This is not a cost thing at all, but what I'm asking is would you bother for the stamp in the book? I'm not over convinced the main dealers do a fantastic job when it comes to servicing anyway. I also accept dealer stamps are better than indi stamps when selling, but as my time on the bike is minimal, I can't see me selling to swap as I can't think of anything better to keep hold of until the day I eventually give up altogether.

My friend can MOT and do a general check over, oil etc and he's local.

    What do you guys think?

  2. If it came with the 4 year warranty, it might be worth having it dealer serviced

  3. No warranty or would have agreed.

The sender went and had to pay for that after a month. Like I said, no massive confidence in the network.

  4. I’d have your mate do the servicing etc.
